Panchase trekking, a solid panoramic trek, is getting popularity as being one of the shortest trek from Pokhara offering great views of the longest chain of mountain range: Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Mt Hiuchuli, Mt Lamjung, Mt Dhaulagir, Mt Manaslu, Fish Tail Mountain locally known as Machhapuchare and many others. From the top of Panchase, Mt Fishtail seems to be cuddled by Mt Annapurna in her arms. This trek takes you through the forest to the Gurung village and gives you an opportunity to closely observe the wonderful life style of the local gurung people. The utmost point of this trek is Panchase hill from where you can have a spectacular and heavenly view of sunrise and sunset.

Two-thirds of the trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. The area is easily accessible, hotels in the hills are pentiful, and treks here offer good scenery of both high mountains and lowland villages. Central Nepal is dominated by the Annapurna Himal and the village of Pokhara. Pokhara is a good starting point for trekking in Nepal. The entire Annapurna range, more than 7600 sq km, was declared ‘Annapurna Conservation Area’ and is the first and also the largest protected area of Nepal. The region is rich in biodiversity and is a treasure house for 1,226 species of flowering plants, 102 mammals, 474 birds, 39 reptiles and 22 amphibians. It contains worlds deepest river gorge – Kali Gandaki Gorge, which is 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. The region contains worlds largest rhododendron forest in Ghorepani. Tilicho lake, located in Manang north of Annapurna massif, is the worlds highest altitude fresh water lake. The area ranges in altitude from 790 m (2,590 ft) to the peak of Annapurna I at 8,091 m (26,545 ft).
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
It entirely depends upon your level of fitness and ditermination because at some point trekking can become streneous as we gain elevation. The highest point on this trek is 4095m. Nevertheless, if you are physically and mentally fit, you can enjoy this trek like all the other participants.
All treks in the Annapurna region either start or end at Pokhara. You can either choose to take the 8-hour tourist bus drive to the city of Pokhara from Kathmandu or, for an additional cost you can take a 25-minute flight that can save half a day of your itinerary. You could enjoy at the lakeside, the shore of Fewa Tal (Fewa Lake) in Pokhara and get ready for the trek the next day.
FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
On your way to trek, there are trekkers’ hotel (Guest Lodges), most are adequate and some are outstanding, that provide good accommodation and a appreciable choice of prepared meals. However, it is highly advisable to bring your own sleeping bag, as during the peak season, most lodges are crammed beyond their capacity, in case everything is full and you are forced to sleep on a floor and it can get very cold at higher altitudes.
BEST TIME TO TREK
March to May is one of the best times to trek with lots of flowers in bloom, especially rhododendrons in the mountains. While the sky may not be very clear like in the autumn months, it is the second busiest season for trekking and mountaineering.
June to August is a rainy season but the mountains and hills are covered with lush, full green forests and vegetation. Mountain views are not guaranteed as it is generally cloudly everyday but if you love to explore the trails and nature in quite, this is the perfect time to trek because very few people travel at this time of the year.
September to November is the by far the busiest and the best season with spectacular views of mountains. The sky is very clear as the weather is easily predictable. However, the most popular trails can become quite busy at this time.
December to February is a winter season and it is good time to trek because the sky is clear and the number of trekkers are reduced due to cold temperature.
